Related to the development of Disney's streaming television service is THIS ARTICLE (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-08-02/disney-is-said-to-seek-star-wars-rights-back-from-tbs-tnt).

Disney is in negotiations with TNT / Turner Broadcasting to regain the broadast rights to the Star Wars saga films.  TNT currently has rights to the movies until 2024.  And Netflix has the streaming rights to some Star Wars movies through the end of 2018.  This move clearly indicate that Disney is attempting to regain exclusive broadcast and streaming rights for all of the Star Wars movies so that they can be available for the Disney streaming service.

More on the Disney streaming service in this Variety article:  Disney Outlines Streaming Service, Will Launch in Late 2019 (https://variety.com/2018/film/news/disney-streaming-service-2019-1202898412/)

And this is worth taking note of:

Iger suggested that Disney’s streaming service might be a lower cost option to Netflix. He noted that the company’s pricing will reflect its “lower volume” of content. There will also be some notable omissions. Some of Disney’s biggest franchises, such as “Star Wars” movies released before next year, will not be available. They have been licensed to other distributors.

“The marketing will make clear that it’s not going to be on there,” said Iger. “But ‘Star Wars’ movies that come out in 2019 and later, you’ll find them there.”
