Perhaps we should dust off this thread with something new?

Thanks for the update.  I'm glad to hear they are still around - they were a big part of my collection for a while.  Sadly, I think I will have to dump mine since I have absolutely no room for them and they have been sitting in storage boxes for about 4 years...  :-\

You may want to wait to do that.

Gentle Giant definitely reached their peak a few years back, probably around 2007.  And I think that ever since the economy started declining, so did interest in collecting Gentle Giant.  GG started raising prices, and they also alienated a good deal of their client base with a slew of exclusives.

I decided to try selling a number of choice pieces from my own collection at fair market prices.  And right now, the buyers simply aren't there, and the prices have been declining.  It's gotten to the point where I may pull my sale listings, because I'd like to see if things turn around down the road.

GG is still going but they have had their ups and downs. Their customer service drove a lot of people away but they still do make nice pieces. They have had some quality control issues with certain busts but overall I am still pleased. They have tried to make some changes to make it better for the customer but in doing so have pissed some off. It will never be perfect because somebody always wants to complain but I still collect these. By the way, there are plans for a new Boba Fetters mini bust and rumor states it will be announced soon.

Are GG minibusts still going strong or has their interest waned?  I was really into GG minibusts for a while because of their excellent sculpting and paint apps.  Now, 1/6 scale figures have just as good, if not better, paint apps and sculpting.  How are the paint apps on the recent minibusts?

I was clearing out some boxes in my garage and came across my old GG minibusts.  I was definitely hit with a wave of nostalgia - GG issued some cool and detailed pieces.

Did they ever release a new Boba Fett? I was looking on eBay for fun the other day and saw the price for a GG minibust Boba Fett was actually lower than when I still collected them several years ago.  I presume the market has tanked on these, especially since I recall this piece being one of the most sought after.

I preordered 2-1B as well.  Glad they did this one with the light up feature.  This was supposed to be the CV exclusive but they had some problems with the wiring for the lighting so they held up offering this one for CV.  Glad they took their time to get it right rather than push out a bust just to have it ready for CV.

Every Pre-Order should go this smoothly!  :D

No excess inventory and If you want one you can get one, works out perfectly.
