I read something similar - since there are battles at Hogwarts at the end of both the 6th and 7th books, I've read that the director felt it would be a little redundant on the big-screen.  He'd rather save the big battle for the end of the series and tone down the book 6 battle.

I've heard rumors that they may start the 7th movie with the funeral, so all may not be lost there...

I've heard that the Hogwarts battle may have been omitted because they're trying to save that for Deathly Hallows Part II.

I saw this last night, and I thought it was one of the best movies of the series.  Some of the things omitted were disappointing, like the funeral and moreso the Hogwarts battle, but I guess they are saving the battle scenes for the finale.

I think they overdid the lovelorn Hermione thing too, it wasn't so obvious in the book.  Overall, I really thought they set things up for the finale in the movie way more than it was done in the book.

Saw this today.  I thought it worked as a movie.  But as this is one of the books that I read ( I picked up at either 4 or 5 ), it felt like SO MUCH had to be left out.  In that respect, I'm glad that Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows will be made into two movies.  That book tied up so many loose ends that it seems unthinkable to try to edit that one down.

Saw this over the weekend as well.  Really, really enjoyed it.  Pretty sure I'm going to need a second viewing.

Saw this with my wife the other night. It was actually really well done.

I'm really looking forward to the next two movies. Too bad it's going to be over a year wait...
