In an effort to not have TOO many threads, feel free to discuss Ant-Man & The Wasp in this thread.

I got around to seeing this one today.  And I thoroughly enjoyed it.  It had a lot of the same energy as the first film.  Most of all?  It was fun, but the motivations of the characters all seem to have been very clearly established.

I only stuck around for the one post credits scene.  Can anyone verify if there was a second?  I had to get out of the theater in a hurry.

The mid-credits scene was really a case of bad luck for the Pyms.

There is an end-credits scene but its just a silly gag with no real relevance.

Ant Man and the Wasp

Fun movie. About mid-pack for MCU.

I saw Ant-Man this afternoon.  And for me, one of the things that helped this movie dovetail it's way into the MCU was that opening scene.  The Triskelion is just being built back in 1989 and we see a much younger Dr Hank Pym walking into this meeting with SHIELD.  It's been pretty clear from that first MCU film, Iron Man that SHIELD had some history and reach.  And seeing characters like Howard Stark played by John Slattery (as in Iron Man 2) and Peggy Carter (from Captain America) reprising those roles helped to give a sense of overall continuity.  And I certainly think that it gave some depth to Hank Pym right from the get-go.

And I liked Paul Rudd as Scott Lang.  Am I totally familiar with his story or Ant-Man from the comics?  Not really.  But I think he's an interesting character.  He's smart and funny.  And he seems to want to do the right thing for his kid.

Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne was pretty cool.  She's definitely a tough cookie and not just some pretty face to be cast as the love interest for Scott Lang.  Sure, that worked it's way in at the end, but she was a strong player.  Her story and that of her mom, Janet (Wasp anyone?), seems geared towards a new Wasp working into the MCU.

As for the Yellowjacket angle?  Or the Falcon being in this film?  I think that maybe we should wait a little longer before getting into those story points.

Overall I think that this was a fun MCU movie.  There were some things that made you think, but it was a little light hearted, too.  Considering how dark things got in Avengers - Age of Ultron I think we were due for a movie that was a little less grave.  And the post credit scenes?  Both very cool in their own way.

Saw it last night, I thought they did a good job with the origin story considering the ant angle is bordering hokey; with all these MCU films being intertwined I feel like the details, or "Easter eggs", are starting to become forced, the Falcon scenes felt like they belonged in a different movie (which makes sense, if those details add to Civil War) and the end sequence with the whole "these guys are from Hydra" seemed ridiculous

Still, I'd be interested to see what Edgar Wright's complete vision was.

Saw it over the weekend, didn't care for it. Not one of the better Origin movies.

Loved it.  It's one of my favorite marvel movies.  Great balance of story/action/humor, which is what made Guardians of the Galaxy so good.

Ok, they said I name I couldn't hear.  It must have been "Stark".

Did they have his arm locked down in a vice?  lol

Looked like it.  Question is was he trying to get it off or is that how they were keeping him there.

Thought it was very good.  computerized Michael Douglas was unreal to make him look young in beginning.

As for second credits scene ****** spoilers*******

It's a lead into civil war and getting ant man or hank pym involved. They don't trust stark to help them reprogram Bucky but falcon is probably thinking ant man can.

Ok beginning, good middle, great ending. Stay for all of the credits!!!

I agree, it takes a while to warm up but it's solid.

The thing in the 1st credit scene looked real good.

I didn't fully understand the 2nd credits scene.

So Ant-Man opened a few days ago.  I've been a little too tied up to go myself.  Has anyone else seen it yet?

There's been a significant shakeup in an upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe project.  According to Superherohype, Ant-Man director Edgar Wright is out!

Quote
Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on Ant-Man due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.
