Saw a couple flicks over the weekend......

Silent Running - A cult sci-fi film from the 70's.  Not too bad.

12 Rounds - A don't stop to take a breath action film starring classically trained thespian John Cena.  Silly but good fun.

My Bloody Valentine - Was only able to see it in 2D.  Better than the original.  Also featured what has to be the longest nude scene in cinema history.  This chick must have been bucka$$ naked for the entire day of shooting across 3 sets.  God Bless her.

Watched Coraline on Blu-Ray last night.

The video presentation was absolutely perfect and as pristine as it gets.
The story was pretty good too and draws you in the more you watch.
You can def see the Nightmare Before Xmas influence here.

My son begged me to take him to see this in the movies, I did and he cried towards the end, had to leave.  Not a movie for a 5 year old, just so you guys with kids know.  LOL.

Recently saw......

The Fury with Kirk Douglas.  Good movie with explosive ending (that they make sure you see from every possible camera angle).

Green Street Hooligans - Not usually my genre but an engaging movie nevertheless.

I was disappointed with Knowing.  It started reasonably well, but it kept on dragging itself further and further away from the right atmosphere.

Basket Case is an acceptable movie.  The more you learn about how it was made, it's a very impressive movie for being made on a shoestring.

Phenomena - Sound track was like nails on black board, but did have a prepubecent Jennifer Connelley.
Was this is the movie where she could communicate or control insects?

For some reason I keep watching I keep watching low-budget horror movies too.  I'll break down the one's I've seen recently into two categories...Terrible and Unwatchable.

Terrible:
My Bloody Valentine (1981)
Zombie Strippers - Jenna Jameson's hopefully final fortay into mainstream movies.
Grizzly - Jaws rip off.
Phenomena - Sound track was like nails on black board, but did have a prepubecent Jennifer Connelley.
Frontiers - Hostel knock off.

Unwatchable:
Suburban Sasquatch - Looks like it was filmed with a cell phone camera.
One-Eyed Monster - Unfortunately I know it won't be Ron Jeremy's final fortay into mainstream movies.
Basket Case - Ridiculous.
Grizzly Park - Worse than Grizzly.
Lets Scare Jessica to Death - One of the worst movies I've ever seen.

Just got Blackadder Vol 1-5. Just recently watched a bunch of bad movies, Ice Breakers (horror/monster) a low budget movie where everybody dies off screen, The Boogeyman another horror/monster film with some violence, but no blood, guts or gore. I also bought Zapped, a movie starring Scott Baio that came out when I was a teen. I always wanted to the see the film and so when I saw it for 5$ I couldn't resist. I wish I had.

I bought Thunderpants on DVD.  It's a British movie starring Rupert Grint of Harry Potter fame.  He plays best friend to some kid whose uncanny flatuence allows him to become an astronaut somehow.  It was underappreciated in its time, I think.

Watched Knowing last night.  It was pretty good until toward the end.  It could have been so much better if the ending is different

I've recently seen:

Knowing - It had an okay mystery that kept you entertained but didn't deliver at the end.  Also, a best supporting actor nod to Nic Cage's toupee.

REC - This is the Spanish movie that spawned "Quarrantine".  Only 1:15, but tense.  I'd recommend it.

I just saw a film from the 50's titled Scaramouche.  Its a wonderful swashbuckling adventure in its own right, but if you watch it think Empire Strikes Back while you do  ;)
