The deal with the Spidey reboot is actually kind of cynical, from a business standpoint.  Apparently Sony's option on the Spiderman franchise was set to expire if they didn't produce another Spiderman film within a certain ammount of time.  Had they not started production on this upcoming Spiderman reboot the rights would have reverted to Marvel Studios.  Now Sony has the rights to continue to produce Spiderman movies through some point in time that I'm not totally aware of.  Seeing Spiderman cross over into this Avengers universe is probably some ways off at this point.

And why are they not including spider man into the avengers group?   Isnt he a big part of the avengers?

$$$

Marvel solely produced the Iron Mans, Thor, Cap, and the 2nd Hulk movie on their own, and just partnered with a company for distribution.  Which is why these 4 characters' movies dovetail so nicely towards the Avengers next year.

Spiderman's movie rights still belong to Sony, who put out 1, 2 and 3, and are doing next year's Spiderman.

Same deal with X-men and FF...except they are Fox properties.

I assume these deals expire at some point, so we may yet see a major crossover involving Spidey.  I always thought a Spiderman/Daredevil crossover would be pretty sweet to see on the screen.

Well if you have that many superheros teamed up you certainly need a big enemy.  Unless everyone fights their own nemesis like Justice League.

would much rather see that than skrulls, but it doesnt sound like were going to see that, I havent heard about any bad guys in it other than Loki so far. Would like to see some of the big name bad guys in there too.

does the cube they were looking at have anything to do with the comics (skrulls)?

I'd assume what we saw is a cosmic cube, so it is possible...but I'm betting the Avengers movie has more to do with them coming together and maybe future films deal with the Skrulls. Who knows though?

For a little while I was thinking that Erik Solveig would become a somewhat classic character.  But I've been checking into that theory and I may be wrong.  But Loki certainly does seem to be directly involved.

Okay, so Loki is controlling that doctor.  Is there something more I should know?  Does he become a character I would recognize?

Can we talk about the end credits scene now?
I would think so.

Not sure that Thor is something you can compare with the Iron Man movies, just because the basis for the character is so different.  But you really think that Iron Man was better than Iron Man 2?
Yes I did think IM1 was way better than IM2. IM2 was bogged down by inconsistencies in the plot plus it seemed the Black Widow really served no purpose.

As for the FF movies?  Those really failed to deliver, IMHO.
Well yeah, that's why I said it was better than the FF movies. The first one was okay, but the script needed tweaking a bit. The second one was just bad.

I saw this last night as well (in 3D just because the showtime was more convenient).  I thought it was good, but the whole time I kept thinking that they just did this movie so they can do the Avengers, which is fine.

This was an enjoyable movie.

I'm a bit lost on the secret ending scene.  Is there something more there that I'm not getting??

I thought Iron Man was superior to the sequel as well.

Not sure that Thor is something you can compare with the Iron Man movies, just because the basis for the character is so different.  But you really think that Iron Man was better than Iron Man 2?  I thought the original Iron Man was pretty great, but in this case I though that Iron Man 2 was better.  It didn't get bogged down in the whole origin story, and those plotlines can be a drag on some movies.

As for the FF movies?  Those really failed to deliver, IMHO.

Saw it yesterday, not bad, but not as good as the first Iron Man. but definitely better than IM2, FF1 and 2.
