I enjoyed the first half of season 1.  Season 2 was a bit slow until the latter half.  Season 3 has been enjoyable so far (although I'm about 2 episodes behind).

I really like the Walking Dead comics and the parts of the show that are gripping and enjoyable are the parts that mirror the comics.

I just wish Sideshow Collectibles would bring back their "The Dead" line of zombies  :-\

is the terrible AT-AT walking machine.
It's as big as a house on walking legs,
and whatever it steps on it crushes like eggs.

I watched the first season this week.  It didn't really grab me.

I'm a big fan of zombie movies too.  I'm accustomed to the struture:

1.  Something creates zombies (meteor, toxic waste, virus, etc).
2.  Zombies eat some unsuspecting brains.
3.  Group of survivors band together.
4.  Some creative zombie kills.
5.  Survivors get eaten one by one

And we wrap it all up in 90 minutes.

I felt like every scene in the show should have been half as long as it was.

Been kind of slow this season (though Farmer's daughter HOT!) i'm disappointed that we have to wait until February for new episodes.

Was able to watch all 6 episodes, love it. I'm a little surprised at the Zombies in the show, they seem to be more intelligent then what I'm used to. They can climb ladders and climb over a fence and land safely on its feet.

I started watching this series on a whim during the first season. I think I came in on the second or third episode and was hooked instantly. I have watched all episodes now and can't wait for the next season to start. I never read the comics, but I did read the wikipedia timeline for the comics to get a sense of where they were pulling things from and how they differed. I like the human aspect of the show and that while the "walkers" are important, the focus is more on the survival angle. It's kind of like the way the new Battlestar Galactica focused more on the characters and drama than aliens and technology.

I do plan on buying this on DVD.

I've been reading the comics for a long time now, and the show is a mixed blessing.
It doesn't follow the comics very closely, but that seems more like it's to the benefit of the hardcore fans.  They needed to give us something we didn't already know.
But the quality of the writing seems to vary wildly.  Sometimes I cringe at the dialogue, but sometimes I've been very happy with episodes.
I might be in the minority, but I thought the first three episodes were much weaker than the second three.

Still, it's worth buying.  It's the sort of series that only gets better the longer it runs.

I enjoy the show and haven't read the comics at all.  Looking forward to season 2

Okay, haven't watched the show, but have read some of the comics. Is the show good? I was thinking of buying season one.

I think it's good, and I'm not at all a hardcore horror fan.  The show has more to do with human relationships in a survival situation and less to do with zombies....not that there aren't zombies, but the zombies are sometimes less of a threat than the living.
