I was able to score a 6" Sandtrooper today.  Overall, I'm very impressed with it.  The articulation is fantastic (I love that hasbro gave him double-jointed elbows and knees).  The ball-jointed and swivel neck post is fantastic.

My only complaint would be the paint apps.  They are pretty bad.  There are paint smears everywhere.  Maybe I just picked up a poor sample - does anybody else have a sandtrooper?  If so, how are the paint apps?

I wasn't too sure about a different scale of Star Wars figures, but having barely collected the 1:18th in a few years, the new Black Series 6" figures are looking pretty tempting.
I pulled these images off of a different forum I visit.  Apparently the guy found these at a Target yesterday (8-6-13) and had them pulled from the back:

I will definitely be picking up a Sandtrooper when I see him...

Definitely interested in them. Most of the pictures I've seen look pretty good, with the exception of Darth Maul.

Agreed, the Maul looks off for some reason

I love the 6" scale and this seems very doable to collect.

Although the collector in me from about 5 years ago would hate to say this, I actually think this line has some serious potential and i'm excited for it.  I basically stopped collecting 1/18th scale figures a few years ago, so this new scale and super articulation is enticing.  Still,  I won't be getting in to a new line, so I will just pick up one or two figures as I like them.  I can't afford to get into a new scale.

I still wish 3A's 1/12th Star Wars figure line was approved.  Those figures looked amazing.  Also, now that I have some 1/12 3A figures, i can see the potential for a 3A Star Wars line.  So sad...

Rumors about the 6" SDCC exclusive set indicate that it may include Vader.

SDCC exclusives have gotten bigger and cooler over the years.  And with this, I'm thinking Vader with the meditation chamber.

Wow!  They made made an X-wing sculpt. I'm sure one of the first exclusives will be a Biggs figure or something. Maybe they will go with a Sandtrooper with a different pauldron. If it were me they should have started with a basic Luke, Han, Chewie, R2D2, C3PO, and Vader.

You know they will be too good to pass on though and have to start collecting them.   ;)

From the press release it appears that the new 6" scale is an additional line.  The 3.75" scale line will continue in packaging with a similar theme to the 6" figures.

The gyst of it seems to be that these 6" figures will be ultimate incarnations of each character.  And I suspect that with this move Hasbro is trying to latch onto toy collectors who are into 6" scale figure lines, like Marvel Legends, DC Direct, etc.

so these are a full 2 inches bigger than the previous lines.  Although these look cool, I think that sucks!  This means you cant add them to any dsiplay, diorama or ship , scene created etc. that was made in the past based on the 4 inch scale.  I am sure unopeners could care less but for those of you who have made displays for your opened stuff, I am sure you know what I am talking about.

As far as the case assortments, I'm betting that we're going to see some short-packed figures.  I don't think we're likely to see even packs of 2 of each character per case.

More revealed in USA TODAY

I wonder, is this line what was originally believed to be the Disney Theme Park Exclusive line?

With 4 figures per wave, I'm hoping they will be cases of 8, I don't want to be hunting down these figures the way we've had to hunt the later vintage figures.

Of course they had to number them.... ::)

Part of me wants this to be true because I think they could look really cool but the economic side of me doesn't ant this to happen. I'm sure they will cost a fair amount and due to the number of figures they could produce it could be a bad thing. I'm sure the first ones out would be a bunch of different clones. Then they could do X-wing pilots with different head sculpts.

The 411: Is a 6-Inch Star Wars Line Imminent?
Posted by Rich on January 28, 2013 at 02:42 AM CST

According to our spies, Gentle Giant and Hasbro are collaborating in the development of a super-articulated, highly detailed 6-inch Star Wars line. Since the two companies already work together on Hasbro's Marvel Legends line, partnering up for a 6-inch Star Wars line isn't inconceivable.

Reports put at least two figures a good distance into the development process and one spy notes the quality saying "I don't collect Star Wars, but if these come out I'm going to." The question is, will you? Join the discussion in our forums and share your thoughts.

So, what do you think?  Toy Fair is about a week or so away.  Do you expect or hope to see something on this front, or is this more fodder for the rumor mill?
