I heard a little bit about some sort of re-launch of MR back in the spring.  And one of the principals involved in the whole deal has earned something of a negative reputation over the past couple of years, and had reportedly burned a number of bridges.  I know that MR had some big fans a few years back, but without a Star Wars license I don't think they're going to be anything like what people remembered from 10 years ago or so.

Blast from the past....Master Replicas is returning as MASTER REPLICAS GROUP

For those of you who know us from the old MR, it is great to see you again! For those of you who aren’t familiar with us yet, welcome to the Master Replicas Group community, new friends!

Master Replicas Group designs, develops, and manufactures specialty replicas from Science Fiction, Aerospace, and Archaeology.  Our mission is to connect people with their favorite replicas from film and pop culture.  Every person on our crew is skilled and experienced in the collectibles industry. We are all passionate collectors ourselves so you can always be assured that every product we produce will be an incredibly detailed, precise collectible that we would be proud to put on our own shelves.

There will be much more info to come but we know you probably have a bunch of questions so we took the liberty of answering what we feel will be the most common inquiries:

Why are you calling this new company Master Replicas Group?

Although many of the staff are the same as the original MR, we also have some new faces and many new products. Therefore, we wanted to differentiate this new venture from the old company that closed in 2008, so that people wouldn’t get confused.

Why bring back MR after all of this time?

The idea of reforming the company has actually been batted around for the last two years.
Unfortunately, it takes a lot of time and effort to set up and fund a new company of this magnitude.  Also, being collectors ourselves, we felt that there were many new products that no one was making so we finally decided to step up and make them ourselves.  In addition, we thought that with all the new technologies for products and advances in social media to enhance the customer experience, this would be a perfect time to start a company that offers collectors a more interactive, intimate fan experience that we couldn’t do 10 years ago.  Also YouTube and podcasts will allow us to show and talk about our collectibles in a way we couldn’t do back in the original MR days.

Will the quality be the same (or better) than the original company?

Our two product designers and production managers (Steve and Tom) were responsible for many of the original products that were released back in 2001 to 2008. While several of the extremely talented product designers from the original MR have gone on to start their own companies, our key people have the same passion for product quality and authenticity as they did 15 years ago!  We also now have two new artists who are avid collectors and are certain to maintain the same quality that we have always had. (or even better!) The new product packaging and collateral will have the same look and feel as the original MR.  Our customer experience will also be pretty much the same (with a few new twists). It will feel like we never left!

Are you using any new technology in your products and processes that has been developed in the last decade?

Actually, we are utilizing a wide array of new technologies to enhance our new products and processes! For example, we will be extensively utilizing social media to connect with our customers in a way that we could not do a decade ago. We will also be using dynamic QR codes on many of our products to allow customers to directly link with additional information about that specific product on our website.

In addition, we are working on several electronic devices that will absolutely blow people away. These have never been done before by anyone. Unfortunately, we cannot discuss these any further right now, but we plan to release them later in 2018 and they could literally change the collecting world forever!

What is your roll-out plan for the new MR?

We plan to launch the company in three stages:

Stage 1 will be the initial website launch, and the introduction of our new licensed 2001: A Space Odyssey product line. It took us three years to get this deal and only four licensees were ultimately selected by Warner Brothers for this property. We have an amazing line-up of products scheduled for the next three years, including prop replicas, studio-scale spacecraft replicas, consumer electronics, dioramas, electronic artwork, and much more!!

Stage 2 includes some crowd-funding, expanded marketing, and a pending joint-venture with a very large company to develop brand new collectibles for Star Wars and Star Trek that have never been done before! There are some absolutely incredible products planned if this all comes together.

Stage 3 involves taking over the world and dominating all those who have displeased us. More on that later…

Will you be taking pre-order deposits for your products?

At this time, we only plan to do this with one product; The 2001 HAL electronic replica. This item has already been designed and manufacturing is underway in China. We have an expected shipping date of just-before Christmas. We have already invested a great deal of time and money into this product, and we will be accepting a $100 fully-refundable deposit upon ordering, followed by monthly payments thereafter (if the buyer chooses to do a payment plan). What we will be doing differently however, is we will be putting up WEEKLY updates on the product’s production (and later shipping) with photos and reports from the factory. We do not want anyone to ever feel that their hard-earned money is going into a vacuum.

Are you going to be producing all of your products overseas?

Actually…no. At the original MR, 100% of our products were produced in China, but we are now looking to change that whenever possible.  We did try to produce HAL here in the states. We spent months trying to make this happen with local vendors, but the pricing was such that we would have had to sell it for $1000 to make it work. It just wasn’t possible. Many of our other products, however, will be manufactured by us here in PA or by our dozens of sub-contractors across the US. We will always try to produce as many products as possible here, where practical.

Are your new products going to be at similar higher-price- points as before?

No… We are looking to have a much broader spread of product SRPs, with many of them priced under $100. Of course, we will also be releasing higher-end replicas, but we will always offer flexible payment plans, and we will accept Paypal, Venmo, debit and credit cards, goats, small children, etc…

We would like to thank everyone for coming to check us out and can’t wait to bring you our exciting, new collectibles.  If you would like to receive future updates...
